Ein chronologischer Abriss fehlt. Somit ergänzt der Band zahlreiche Werke zur Geschichte des römischen Reiches (z.B. "Die Römer für Dummies", BA 2/08). Auf jeweils einer Doppelseite erfahren wir etwas über römische Dichter und Götter, astronomische und technische Kenntnisse, das Familienleben, Kleidung u.a. Die Bildbände aus dem Hause Tosa sind einerseits in ihrer Aufmachung recht schlicht, andererseits reichhaltig illustriert und äußerst preisgünstig. Viele dieser Verlagsprodukte eignen sich in ihrer grundlagenartigen Gestaltung z.T. sehr gut für den Jugend- und Schulbereich (z.B. "Atlas der Kelten", BA 7/02, oder "Der große historische Atlas der Ritter & Burgen", BA 2/09). So kann auch dieses Buch sowohl für den oben genannten Bereich wie auch für die Sachbuchabteilung der erwachsenen Leser empfohlen werden. Knappes Register. (2 J,S)
