Der Bildband zeigt die im Auftrag der preußischen Herrscher rund um Potsdam und Berlin entstandenen Gartenanlagen, die heute von der "Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten Berlin-Brandenburg" gepflegt werden. Die gärtnerische und künstlerische Qualität dieser Denkmallandschaft gilt als einzigartig, die preußischen Schlösser und Gärten stehen auch auf der UNESCO-Welterbenliste. Sicherlich am bekanntesten ist der Park Sanssouci, der hier besonders ausführlich mit großformatigen und bestens gelungenen Fotos gezeigt wird. Aber auch Anlagen, die nach der Wende zu neuem Leben erweckt wurden und jetzt wieder in der allgemeinen Öffentlichkeit bekannter werden, etwa der Park des Schlosses Babelsberg, werden jeweils mit stimmungsvollen Fotos und kurzen, aber informativen und gehaltvollen Texten (gleichlautend auch in Englisch) vorgestellt. Für Bibliotheken in Berlin, Potsdam und dem Umland ein Muss.
