Der vom Amsterdamer Anne-Frank-Haus zusammengestellte Band verbindet zahlreiche, z.T. wenig bekannte Fotos zum Leben der Anne Frank und ihrer Verwandten mit meist kurzen Texten. Dabei wechseln ein gut verständlicher Kommentar, der die Familiengeschichte zusammenfasst und diese vorsichtig in die politische Entwicklung einbettet, mit Auszügen aus Anne Franks Tagebüchern ab. Ein mehrseitiges Glossar zu Begriffen wie "Antisemitismus" und "Dolle Dinsdag" (alliierte Befreiung Antwerpens) und eine Karte Mitteleuropas mit den Schauplätzen runden den Band ab. Im Vergleich zu dem im Ravensburger Verlag 2002 erschienenen Band (BA 9/02), der stärker auf den historischen Kontext und den gegenwärtigen Rassismus eingeht, ist der neue Band deutlich privater und konzentriert sich auf die unmittelbaren Erlebnisse Anne Franks. Dies wird schon durch das tagebuchähnliche Cover deutlich. Der sehr ansprechend illustrierte neue Band ergänzt den älteren und spricht eine etwas jüngere Lesergruppe an. Er sollte in keiner Bibliothek fehlen. Hervorragend geeignet auch für Schulbüchereien
