En este contexto, el presente libro estudia los contactos españoles de Aretino en tres puntos: tras un miniboceto de este todoterreno de las letras, se presentan sus contactos con personajes españoles y el panorama de su recepción hispánica (con la sanción del ‹i›Index‹/i› de por medio); seguidamente, se examina la cuidada estrategia de construcción de su imagen autorial (en máscaras nominales, retratos de todo tipo y su colección de epístolas); y, finalmente, se abordan sus relaciones con la poesía española en una serie de parodias caballerescas, parnasos poéticos y poemas pictóricos
