Großformatiger und gewichtiger Bildband der einen Blick hinter die Kulissen von 10 Haute Couture-Modehäusern in Paris wirft. Guillaume de Laubier, französischer Einrichtungsfotograf (hier zuletzt "Die schönsten Opernhäuser der Welt", ID-G 4/14) und Désirée Sadek, Chefredakteurin der Zeitschrift "Elle Oriental", zeigen 10 Ateliers von großen Pariser Modemachern in jeweils etwa 20-seitigen Firmenporträts mit kenntnisreichen Texten zur Firmengeschichte, großformatigen Fotos und informativen Bildunterschriften. Dabei handelt es sich nicht so sehr um eine Darstellung der Arbeitsweise oder einen Blick hinter die Kulissen der Produktion, die Texte handeln vielmehr vorwiegend von der Firmengründung, -entwicklung und dem Wesen der Modemacher. Trotzdem sind gerade die Detailfotos von der Herstellung besonders beeindruckend. Am Ende des Buches finden sich Informationen zur Bezeichnung "Haute Couture" und den Regeln der Vergabe. Informationen zu den Modehäusern sind auch an anderer Stelle zu finden, trotzdem ein informativer Bildband, aufgrund des Preises aber eher zurückhaltend empfohlen.

In diesem Bildband werden 10 Modehäuser vorgestellt, die zur "Haute Couture" ernannt wurden. Gezeigt werden die Büros und Ateliers der Modemacher, Entwürfe, fertige Modelle und zum Teil auch die Werkstätten, in denen die Kunstwerke entstehen. Dazu kommen Texte mit ausführlichen Firmenporträts.
