Stephanie Sauter zeigt in ihrer Dissertation, dass der Klassiker Erich Fromm auf interessante Weise zur Klärung der Frage nach der menschlichen Freiheit beiträgt. Freiheit lässt sich in Anlehnung an Erich Fromm als ein genuin psychologisches Problem verstehen, das in einem engen Zusammenhang mit der Charakterstruktur eines Menschen steht. Innere Freiheit stellt Fromm zufolge das Ziel menschlicher Entwicklung und zugleich das Ideal der humanistischen Ethik dar.
