Basierend auf einer indischen Legende, entwirft der Film des nach Indien ausgewanderten Regisseurs Franz Osten ein Drama um Liebe, Mord und Intrigen: Während ein junger Herrscher und sein Cousin im Dschungel eine Tigerjagd veranstalten, will der Cousin seinen Verwandten ermorden lassen und die Krone an sich reißen. Das verletzte Opfer wird in die Hütte eines Weisen gebracht, wo es sich in die Tochter des Hauses verliebt. Der Cousin nutzt die Liebe und die Spielsucht des Königs, um ihn ins Unglück zu stürzen. Reizvoller Stummfilm, der sich nicht in prächtiger Ausstattung verliert, sondern auch eine dicht erzählte, spannende Geschichte bietet, die ihre ganze Poesie entfaltet.
