Den analytischen Methoden steht der invasive Ansatz der synthetischen Biologie gegenüber (siehe ID-G 7/12 und ID-A 19/13). Mithilfe von Glossar und schematischen Abbildungen sind die anspruchsvollen Texte auch der interessierten Öffentlichkeit zugänglich. Sie sprechen neben dem Fachpublikum insbesondere auch Lehrer der Biologie, Ethik oder Religion an. Ein umfassenderer fachlicher Zugang gelingt allerdings besser mit "Biotechnologie für Einsteiger" (ID-B 5/13). Der günstige Band bietet bereits ab kleinem und mittlerem Bestand einen fundierten Einblick in den raschen Fortschritt des Fachs. (2)
