Hauptbeschreibung Seit der Aufklärung ist der Bürger gefragt, der sich des eigenen Verstandes bedient. Er wird seit Rawls durch die Einzelnen abgelöst. Müssen sie umdenken? Sie werden, so hofft man, die Rawls'sche Konzeption bzw. eine ihr ähnliche wechselseitig anerkennen, - wie seltsam. Zu Terror und labilem Kompromiß soll sie die einzige Alternative sein. Aber sie ersetzt die kritisch beurteilende Toleranz des Alltags durch eine mißglückte. Kraft der Grundrechte ist der Einzelne frei, der Staat durch Pflichten eingeschränkt. Verkehrte Toleranz speist die Weltanschauungen mit privater Narrenfreiheit oder mit Antidiskriminierung ab und privilegiert ein Regime mit der Freiheit, rigoros für korrekte Verhältnisse zu sorgen. Sowohl skrupellosem Wirtschaftsliberalismus als auch »sozialer« Spendier- und Verschuldungsbereitschaft kommt die verkehrte Toleranz gelegen.
