Charlotte, eine über 70-jährige Schriftstellerin, ist auf dem Weg zu einer Preisverleihung. Sie soll für ihren neuesten Roman, in dem sie eine Liebesaffäre zu einem jüngeren Mann schildert, ausgezeichnet werden. Vor Ort trifft sie eine Journalistin, die sie immer wieder herausfordert. Sie sieht in der Protagonistin des Romans eindeutig Charlotte. Je länger das Gespräch dauert, umso ungehaltener, aber auch verzweifelter wird Charlotte. Der Text besteht aus drei unterschiedlichen Perspektiven. Aus Charlottes Sicht jetzt, aus ihren Erinnerungen und aus Textauszügen aus dem Roman. Die Bausteine sind gekonnt ineinander verwoben und bewegen sich aufeinander zu, bevor am Ende eine überraschende Auflösung auf den Leser wartet. Dies erfordert vor allem am Anfang etwas Konzentration, hat aber auch einen gewissen Reiz. Der Titel könnte etwas in die Irre führen, weil es sich in keiner Weise um einen "Liebesroman" handelt. Wo S. Schenk (zuletzt ID-B 30/18) gerne gelesen wird, auf alle Fälle ein anzuschaffender Titel. Ansonsten eher für eine etwas anspruchsvollere Lesekundschaft.
