    Note: Der vorliegende zweite Band "Elektrochemie" der Reihe "Grundzüge der Physikalischen Chemie" behandelt die Elektrodenkinetik, d. h. die Reaktionen an der Phasengrenze Elektrode/Elektrolyt. Auf dieses Teilgebiet der Physikalischen Chemie wird im normalen Vorlesungskurs nur auszugsweise eingegangen. Meist ist die Kinetik elektrochemischer Systeme Gegenstand von Spezialvorlesungen im Hauptstudium, in Bonn ist sie in der Reihe der Vorlesungen für das Wahlpflichtfach "Elektrochemie" enthalten. Als Vorbereitung für das Studium dieses Buches ist eine Beschäftigung mit dem Inhalt der Bande "Elektrochemie I", "Transportvorgänge" und "Thermodynamik" zu empfehlen. Wir haben jedoch die Darstellung so gewählt, daß sie für Studenten nach dem Vordiplom auch ohne weitere Vorbereitung verständlich ist. Entsprechend der Beschränkung auf wesentliche Informationen und knappen Umfang erhebt der Band naturgemäß keinen Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit. So wurde bewußt auf einige in der Anwendung wichtige Teilgebiete verzichtet, etwa die Polarographie, die organische Elektrochemie sowie die Vorgänge in Salzschmelzen und Festelektrolyten. Dagegen erscheint uns die theoretische Behandlung des Ladungsüberganges und die Situation an und in Halbleiterelektroden von grundsätzlicher Bedeutung für die elektrochemische Kinetik. Auch die Beschreibung der Untersuchungsmethoden und die ausführliche Darstellung einiger charakteristischer Beispiele halten wir für unerläßlich. Herrn Prof. Dr. W.
