Mein Augenmerk ist seit längerer Zeit auf das Glücksspiel, aber auch allgemeiner auf das Spiel gerichtet. Wer sich wie ich oft im Mittelmeerraum aufgehalten hat, wird festgestellt haben, daß dort allerorts und zu jeder Tageszeit gespielt wird. Es wird gespielt, um Geld gespielt, gewettet; Lotterielose werden in den Straßencafes verkauft. Die Spielart scheint unerheblich zu sein. Brettspiele, Kartenspiele und Würfelspiele aller Art, sowie jede Form von Wette und Lotterie gewinnen offenbar an Bedeutung und werden spannender, sobald eine oftmals nur geringe Summe auf den Ausgang des Spieles gesetzt wird. In Deutschland finden diese Spiele ebenso statt, wenn auch nicht auf offener Straße. Da sind zunächst einmal Lotterien aller Art, die in Tabak- und Schreibwarengeschäften, in Banken und in den Medien angeboten werden. Bei aufmerksamem Hinsehen kann man weitere Glücksspiele ausmachen. Beispielsweise werden in Gaststätten Würfelspiele mit absurd einfachen Regeln gespielt, deren einziger Sinn darin zu liegen scheint, daß der Verlierer für den Alkoholkonsum der Mitspieler aufkommen muß. Meinungsverschiedenheiten werden wichtiger genommen, sobald zwei Beteiligte bereit sind, für ihre Überzeugung Geld einzusetzen.
