Schneider erzählt mit Emma als Ich-Erzählerin eine innige Geschichte über Freundschaft, Liebe, Verantwortung und Tod (ohne religiöse Bezüge). Große Themen, skizziert in einer leichtfüßig anmutenden Sprache, die lesende und zuhörende Kinder gut verstehen können. Der Text wird mit z.T. ganzseitigen Illustrationen in warmen Erdtönen von der vielfach ausgezeichneten J. Gleich bereichert. Neben anderen aktuellen Kinderbüchern zum Thema Tod wie "Hannah und ich" von B. Wegenast (BA 8/08) oder "Wie Niklas ins Herz der Welt geriet" von G. Scobel (BA 12/08) empfohlen.
