Die 1991 entdeckten und jetzt zum ersten Mal der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellten Tagebücher Lion Feuchtwangers (1884-1958) reichen vom Januar 1906 bis zum September 1940 (s. ID-G 1/19). Die radikal ehrlichen, nichts beschönigenden Notizen zum Tage lassen den Menschen hinter der Fassade des Erfolgsschriftstellers sichtbar werden, mit all seiner Eitelkeit und Verletzbarkeit, seiner Spielsucht und seiner erotischen Besessenheit. Die knappen Notate geben allerdings nur ein dürres Daten- und Faktengerüst zu Feuchtwangers Leben und sparen das literarische Werk ebenso wie das dramatische Zeitgeschehen weitgehend aus. Die gut ausgestattete Hörbuchfassung mit 4 CDs und einem Booklet (mit informativer Zeittafel zur Lebensgeschichte) überzeugt durch den modulationsreichen Vortrag des bekannten Hörbuchinterpreten und Schauspielers Jens Wawrczeck. Ihm gelingt es, den lakonischen Notaten Feuchtwangers ("Brecht da. Nett.") Leben und Frische einzuhauchen und so diese Autobiografie in Stichwörtern für den Hörer ein Stück weit lebendig zu machen. Daher etwas breiter empfohlen als die Buchausgabe.
