Der Band untersucht den Zusammenhang von Militär-Videospielen, Militär und Rüstungsindustrie. Rezension : Spiele wie die "Call of Duty"-Serie sind ein Milliardengeschäft. Es liegt nahe, sie auf ihren ideologischen Gehalt zu untersuchen, wobei wenig Überraschendes zu Tage tritt. Die Feindbilder in diesen dualistischen Freund-/Feind-Welten, in der man die Gegner bedenkenlos über den Haufen ballern kann, entspricht den jeweils aktuellen Bedrohungsbildern des Hauptproduktionsortes USA. Mal sind es der Iran, mal China, überwiegend aber "Terroristen". Selbstverständlich betreibt auch die Rüstungsindustrie hier so etwas wie "product placement". Ob die Videospiele nun der Aggressionsabfuhr oder der geistigen Aufrüstung dienen oder nur einer etwas einseitigen Unterhaltung, bleibt auch nach der Lektüre offen. Jedenfalls ist es ein erhellender Ausflug in eine Fantasiewelt, die wir Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekare in der Regel kaum betreten. Schon deshalb empfohlen, auch in Hinblick auf die Diskussion, ob derlei in unseren Häusern angeboten werden sollte. (2)
