Schule steht heute im Zentrum sozialen Wandels. Dabei nimmt die Auseinandersetzung mit Gender im Sinne einer Veränderung der bestehenden Geschlechterverhältnisse eine zentrale Rolle ein. Gender Mainstreaming ist eine zentrale Strategie, ohne die eine Weiterentwicklung von Schule zu einer Institution, die Schülern und Schülerinnen verschiedenster Herkünfte, Lehrerinnen und Lehrern sowie Eltern gerecht wird, nicht möglich ist. Der Band ist hervorgegangen, aus dem 3. Fachtag Gender und Schule, der in Kooperation der Gewerkschaft Erziehung und Wissenschaft (GEW) Bezirk Weser-Ems mit dem Zentrum für Frauen- und Geschlechterforschung (ZFG) der Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg sowie dem Kooperationsnetzwerk Geschlechterforschung in der Nord-West-Region veranstaltet wurde. Er enthält neben den Tagungsbeiträgen weitere aktuelle Beiträge, die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen sowie weitergehende Perspektiven für die Umsetzung von Gender Mainstreaming im Schulbereich öffnen. 〈dt.〉
