Im vorliegenden Band beschreibt der Autor das dichte Netzwerk der strategisch (von der Auswahl der Stoffe und Sujets) wie taktisch (bis zur Auswahl und Ausgestaltung der Abspielstätten) meisterhaft geplanten und durchgeführten Werbekampagnen der Hollywood Studios, mit denen diese sowohl die einzelnen Filme wie auch ihre Protagonisten/-innen zu Weltstars machten - 70 Jahre bevor das Zeitalter der Globalisierung losbrach, wohlgemerkt. Das verwendete Material ist stark anekdotisch und leicht konsumierbar aufbereitet; dennoch wird deutlich, wie sehr die "unseriöse" Filmbranche schon damals Methoden und Techniken wie Leitbild, corporate identity, Qualitätszirkel u.a.m. entwickelte und erfolgreich nutzte, die heutzutage als hochinnovative Marketingerkenntnisse gehandelt werden.
