The anthropic action in hydrographic basins is responsible for the imposition of mechanisms of direct and indirect control about the morphohydrography. The Arroio Chasqueiro Basin, located in the town of Arroio Grande, State of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), had its drainage network intercepted after the construction of a reservoir for water collection and the provision of irrigated rice plantations. Coupled with the reservoir construction, there was a spatial reconfiguration linked to the land cover and land use dynamics. This work was carried out with the purpose of identifying and analyzing the morphohydrographic changes in the middle and high basin of the Arroio Chasqueiro (Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil), resulting from the dam imposed to the river system and the land cover and land use dynamics. Detailed geomorphological maps and land use/cover maps between 1947 and 2010 were elaborated, in order to enable the analysis of the occurring changes. The results pointed out for the decrease of rural coverings found in the studied area, with a significant increase of temporary cultures, causing modifications in the spatial configuration of the drainage network and in the landscape forms, with interference on the linked processes. A decrease in the levels of drainage and river densities was noticed highlighting the relations of these changes with the direct and indirect modifications imposed by the land cover and land use dynamics to the morphohydrographic system.

A ação antrópica em bacias hidrográficas é responsável pela imposição de mecanismos de controle diretos e indiretos sobre a morfohidrografia. A Bacia do Arroio Chasqueiro, localizada no município de Arroio Grande, Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (Brasil), teve sua rede de drenagem interceptada a partir da construção de um reservatório para captação de água e abastecimento de lavouras de arroz irrigado. Aliada à construção do reservatório, ocorreu uma reconfiguração espacial atrelada à dinâmica de Cobertura e Uso da Terra. Este trabalho foi desenvolvido com o objetivo de identificar e analisar as alterações morfohidrográficas na média e alta bacia do Arroio Chasqueiro (Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil), decorrentes do barramento imposto ao sistema fluvial e da dinâmica de cobertura e uso das terras. Foram elaborados mapas geomorfológicos de detalhe e mapas de cobertura e uso da terra dos anos de 1947 e 2010, a fim de possibilitar a análise das alterações ocorridas. Os resultados apontam para a diminuição das coberturas campestres presentes na área em estudo, com significativo aumento das culturas temporárias, causando modificações na configuração espacial da rede de drenagem e nas formas do relevo, com interferência sobre os processos atrelados. Foi verificada também a redução nos índices das densidades de drenagem e de rios evidenciando as relações destas alterações com as modificações diretas e indiretas impostas pela dinâmica de cobertura e uso da terra ao sistema morfohidrográfico.
