Er ist der King, der unablässig stört, die Schwächeren drangsaliert. Niemand wagt, sich zu wehren. Hannah, die Ich-Erzählerin, ist hin- und hergerissen. Einerseits findet sie den Coolman irgendwie toll; doch sein Spaß an Gewalt, an Horrorvideos, am "Anmachen" und "Aufmischen" macht ihr zunehmend Angst. Die Meinung der Mutter teilt sie nicht, dass man mit Kindern wie Coolman Mitleid haben müsse. Wie sich eine schlimme Atmosphäre im Klassenzimmer aufbaut, wie schwierig es ist, die Entwicklung zu erkennen und dann zu stoppen, wird hautnah erzählt. Der Lösungansatz weist Richtung, auch wenn zweifelhaft bleibt, ob er schnell greifen kann: "Coolman" soll nicht mehr so heißen; die Kinder müssen lernen, zu reden, mutig zu werden, sich zu wehren. Gemeinsam sind sie stark. Ein wichtiges, klar entwickeltes Buch. Es stempelt den "Coolmann" nicht als hoffungslosen Fall und nimmt auch die "Opfer" in die Pflicht.
