Content: The Klamath are Native Americans living in southwestern Oregon. This file consists of 11 documents. The focus of the literature is on tribal origins, traditional culture, social change, and mythology. The earliest by Gatschet is based on field work carried out in 1877 and includes information on geography, settlements, folklore, language, and mythology. Spier produced a "memory ethnography" based on informant recollections of ca. 1860 tribal life. He also compared Klamath cultural traits with those of neighboring groups in order to establish Klamath origins and affiliations. Stern wrote about the history, culture, and politics of the Klamath reservation and a study of Klamath myths and their narration. Barker also recorded Klamath mythology and life histories. Other articles in the file include studies of Klamath childhood and socialization (Pearsall), material culture (Barrett), personality and acculturation (Clifton and Levine), comparative religion (Spencer), and songs and their interpretation (Weaver)

Content: This collection about the Vietnamese consists of 84 documents, 33 in English and 51 translations from the French, that cover all three main areas culturally recognized by the Vietnamese as the Northern (Bac Bo), Central (Trung Bo), and Southern (Nam Bo) regions, with Hanoi, Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon), serving as the main cities of each of the three regions. The cultural data are diverse, but generally the best overall coverage of Vietnamese ethnography will be found in Gourou, Huard, Cima, and supplemented with brief summaries in Landes and in Luro. Other major ethnographic topics discussed include community studies, gender studies with the emphasis on women's roles and status in Vietnamese society, law and legal norms, economics, and features of Vietnamese religion. Information on the French colonial period in Vietnam is given specific attention in Thompson, Bonhomme, Dumarest, and Rouilly. Medicine and medical care are topics discussed in: Jeanselme, Gammeltoft, and Ladinsky. Discussions on social change are given special attention by Dang, Hickey, Kleinen, Luong, and Kerkvliet.
