Die vorliegende Einführung in die Halbleitertheorie ist aus einer Reihe von Vorträgen entstanden, die mein Freund und Mitarbeiter E. SPENKE auf Physikertagungen und vor jüngeren Fachkollegen aus der Industrie über die Grundlagen der Halbleiterphysik, besonders im Hinblick auf Gleichrichter- und Transistorprobleme, gehalten hat. Die Aufnahme, die diese Vorträge gefunden haben, zeigte, daß trotz des bekannten schönen Buches von SHOCKLEY in Deutschland noch ein echtes Bedürfnis nach einer geschickten Einführung in die Grundlagen besteht, wobei als besonderer Vorzug der SPENKEschen Darstellung die auch für den Anfänger verständliche Entwicklung der praktisch wesentlichen Beziehungen aus genau umschriebenen Ausgangsbegriffen und Voraussetzungen empfunden wurde; das unangenehme Gefühl des "Schwimmens" bleibt den Zuhörern SPENKEscher Vorträge erspart. Die vorliegende Zusammenfassung dieser Vorträge weist diese Vorzüge im erhöhten Maße auf, wobei darauf geachtet ist, daß die Vorträge I bis V für die an den jeweilig speziell behandelten Problemen besonders interessierten jungen Fachkollegen auch einzeln gut lesbar sind. Es handelt sich hierbei zunächst um die auch für die allgemeine Halbleitertheorie (also etwa für den Glühkathoden., Lumineszenz- oder Photoleitungs-Physiker) wichtigen Themen: I. Der Leitungsmechanismus in elektronischen Halbleitern, II. Störstellen, Störstellenmodelle und Störstellenreaktionen, III. Das Defektelektron. Weitere Vorträge geben die Grundlagen zweier Anwendungsgebiete: IV. Die Wirkungsweise von Kristallgleichrichtern, V. Die physikalische Wirkungsweise von Kristallverstärkern, wobei zu IV. die eigene Mitarbeit von Herrn SPENKE an den grundlegenden Veröffentlichungen dieses Gebietes allgemein bekannt ist
