Tränen strömen, bewegen sie. In den bildenden Künsten, im Theater, Film und in der Literatur kommt die adressierende Qualität der Tränen ebenso zur Geltung wie vor Gericht. Im Weinen entäußert sich das Innere, die Tränen werden auf der Körperoberfläche zu sicht- und lesbaren Anzeichen verbor-gener Regungen. Das Über-schreiten der Haut hat nicht nur eine kommunikative Funktion. Die Entgrenzung des Körpers bedeutet auch drohende Auflö-sung. Der Gabe der Tränen ste-hen Weinkrämpfe gegenüber, in denen der Körper die Herrschaft über das Subjekt zu gewinnen scheint. Zugleich thematisieren die Tränen als nicht nur bewe-gendes, sondern auch bewegtes Phänomen die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen von Darstellbarkeit. Der Band geht den ästhetischen, kommunikativen und anthropo-logischen Wirkweisen der Tränen aus der Perspektive von Kunst-, Literatur-, Film- und Theaterwis-senschaft sowie Wissenschafts- und Medizingeschichte nach
