Es ist nicht meine Aufgabe, die speziellen Vorgänge hier zu erörtern, die beim PFLUGERSchen Zuckungsgesetz obwalten, oder die Änderungen der Erregbarkeit in Erwägung zu ziehen, die durch Elektrotonus und Baden des Nerven in verschiedenen Lösungen hervorgerufen werden. Alle diese Gesetze, wenn sie auch für die Lehre von der Erregung des Nerven von der größten Bedeutung sind, pflegen doch das nicht zu enthalten, was man unter Erregungsgesetzen schlechthin versteht. Sie finden in besonderen Kapiteln dieses Handbuches und dieses Bandes ihre Erledigung und werden im folgenden nur so weit berührt, wie es die eigene Darstellung erfordert. Gewisse Grundbegriffe müssen zum Verständnis des Folgenden durchaus klargestellt werden, selbst auf die Gefahr hin, daß dabei eine doppelte Darstellung entsteht. Vor allen Dingen müssen wir davon ausgehen, daB dem Nerven eine Kernleiterstruktur innewohnt, womit aber nicht an eine zu enge Verbindung mit den MATTEUCCIschen Modellen gedacht sein soll. Es handelt sich lediglich darum, daß der periphere Nerv eine Substanz enthält, in der die Vorgänge der Erregung sensu strictiori ablaufen, das "leitende Element", wie manche Autoren, z. B.
