"Die 7-CD-Box enthält 54 Werke von 49 verschiedenen Komponisten mit insgesamt über 8½ Stunden Musik. […] Es ist interessant, dass gerade das Klavier mit seinem monochromen Klang über die Jahre so wichtig für die Vertreter der seriellen Schiene geblieben ist, obwohl es auch die Schwächen dieses Komponierens mehr als deutlich zu Tage treten lässt. […] Ob manche der in der Box vorgestellten Werke nach 1970 irgendwann – und wenn auch nur aus historischen Gründen – Repertoirestücke werden, wird erst die Zeit entscheiden. Lob verdienen auf jeden Fall die Ausführenden: Sowohl die Beispiele virtuoser Entgrenzungen (Xenakis, Boucourechliev, Ferneyhough, Sciarrino, Rothman…) als auch sich solchem verweigernde Gegenpole (Febel, Tanaka, Lang…) werden hier absolut überzeugend dargeboten – nicht von ungefähr darf ein Großteil der hier tätigen Pianisten als creme de la creme bei der Bewältigung Neuer Musik gelten. […] Besonderes Augenmerk wurde bei der Auswahl für die Box auch auf solche Werke gelegt, bei denen das übliche Gespann – Pianist(in) plus wohltemperiert gestimmter Konzertflügel – verworfen wird. Hier finden sich einerseits Stücke, die den normalen Tonvorrat in Richtung Mikrotonalität verändern oder erweitern (Roland Kayns Quanten, Jean-Etienne Maries Trois pièces brêves, Pascal Critons Thymes) – andererseits solche, die den Pianisten völlig ignorieren (Player Piano bzw. Computerrealisationen mit und ohne Live-Elektronik bei Barlow und Zuraj) oder aber zusätzliche Aktionen wie Singen oder Sprechen von ihm abfordern (Aperghis, Baltakas)" (Martin Blaumeiser, The New Listener, www.the-new-listener.de, August 2016)
