Das Durchleuchtungsheim in Röntgental - Erschütternde Schicksale aus einem geteilten Land. Im März 1985 behauptete das SED-Zentralorgan Neues Deutschland, dass angeblich 20 000 ehemalige DDR-Bürger vom Westen zurück in den Osten wollten, weil sie vom Leben im Kapitalismus enttäuscht seien. Der Journalist Ulrich Stoll recherchierte und enttarnte das Ganze als eine Propagandaaktion zur "Rückgewinnung" der Geflohenen, die man durch Erpressung oder falsche Versprechen wieder hinter die Mauer locken wollte. Wer sich jedoch aus Not tatsächlich darauf einließ, musste ein entnervendes Durchleuchtungs- und Umerziehungsprogramm über sich ergehen lassen. Im Zentralen Aufnahmeheim Röntgental am Rande Berlins hatten die Rückkehrer wochen-, oft monatelang auszuharren, bis sie zurück zu ihren Familien durften. Viele erlitten einen "Lagerkoller", mehrere nahmen sich dort das Leben. Zwanzig Jahre nach dem Mauerfall hat der ZDF-Reporter Ulrich Stoll zahlreiche Rückkehrer besucht und ihre Geschichten rekonstruiert. Er traf auf Familien, die erpresst und als Geiseln genommen wurden, um republikflüchtige Angehörige zur Rückkehr zu bewegen. Er hörte von Skepsis und Argwohn im gesellschaftlichen Umfeld, in dem die Rückkehrer nicht willkommen waren, sondern bespitzelt und als "Verräter am Sozialismus" ausgegrenzt wurden. Ein Buch voll erschütternder persönlicher Schicksale.
