Hatte man in den 1990er Jahren noch gedacht, man sei in einer nun endgültig von Amerika dominierten Weltordnung angekommen, die Francis Fukuyama allzu leichthändig mit dem "Ende der Geschichte" gleichsetzte, so waren alle derartigen Thesen und Deutungen mit einem (An-)Schlag obsolet. Waren die Nullerjahre also im Wesentlichen ein Jahrzehnt neuartiger Verunsicherung? Oder dominierten Kontinuitäten, Traditionsüberhänge, Fortsetzungen von Entwicklungen, die bereits die 1990er Jahre kennzeichneten?
