Dawn O'Porter widmet sich in "Cows" dem Leben von Frauen in Zeiten von Social Media. Sie zeigt auf sehr pointierte Art und Weise die konservativen Vorstellungen der Gesellschaft (sowohl Männer als auch Frauen) im Kontrast zu modernen, selbstbestimmt lebenden Frauen. Tradition und Moderne, verbindliche Werte und Bruch, dies stellt O'Porter anhand der unterschiedlichen Leben von Cam, Tara und Stella dar, um mit verschiedenen Tabu-Themen im gegenwärtigen Leben von Frauen aufzuräumen. "Cows" regt sehr zum Nachdenken an, über die eigenen Vorstellungen vom Frausein in einer mediendominierten Welt, in der jeder seine Laune einfach so äußern kann, egal ob reflektiert oder unreflektiert. Werden die umfangreichen, erotischen Abenteuer der Heldinnen ein wenig beiseite geschoben, so zeigt sich ein inspirierender Roman für jede Frau, für sich selber einzustehen und ihren eigenen Weg zu gehen, einfach sie selbst zu sein. Großartig gelesen von B. Steffenhagen (Tara), Y. Blümel (Cam) und M. Oschek (Stella). Wird sehr gerne augenzwinkernd zum Kauf empfohlen, wo Budget und emanzipierte Nutzerinnen vorhanden sind.

Tara (42), Cam (36) und Stella (Ende 20) sind drei sehr verschiedene Frauen, die auf den ersten Blick nichts zu verbinden scheint. Doch haben die drei moderne Vorstellungen zum Thema Frausein, im Gegensatz zu den gängigen Klischees der Gesellschaft. Sie folgen eben gerade nicht der "Herde".
