Überwältigende Beweise sprechen gegen ihn. Die überraschende Wendung geschieht erst im Finale. In langen Kapiteln geht es um den Vater von Cross, der offensichtlich seine krebskranke Frau erdrosselt haben und angeschossen in eine Schlucht gestürzt sein soll. Dieses Geheimnis wird letztlich aufgedeckt und der Detective sieht seinen Vater am Ende wieder. Die Entwicklung der Handlung geht etwas zu langatmig vonstatten. Von den über 100 Kapiteln könnten einige eingespart werden. Der eigentliche Aufgabenbereich, Mörder zu stellen, gerät diesmal ins Hintertreffen, da die persönlichen Anliegen überwiegen. Gebremst spannend, dennoch interessant und überzeugend. - Überall gut einstellbar.
