Sehr anschaulich und mit durchaus auch abstoßenden und grausamen Einzelheiten beschreibt sie die vielen Facetten der rechtsmedizinischen Tätigkeit im Rahmen der Ermittlungsarbeit bei etwa 50 beispielhaft geschilderten Mordfällen (Bestimmung von Todeszeitpunkt, Todesursache, Tathergang etc.), aber auch bei Unfällen, Misshandlungen, Vergewaltigungen, Vernachlässigung. Auf viele in Medien und Öffentlichkeit diskutierte Aspekte (etwa K.-o.-Tropfen, Organspende, Ausstellung des Totenscheins, Obduktion) wird differenziert eingegangen. Die Unterschiede der Rechtssysteme verschiedener Länder und zwischen Medienbild und Realität werden gut herausgearbeitet. Wie bei anderen Büchern dieses Genres stellen sich Grundsatzfragen: Sollte eine Kennzeichnung der Eignung für bestimmte Altersklassen erfolgen, und/oder ein Hinweis auf erschütternden Inhalt gegeben werden? Ist es sinnvoll, potenziellen Tätern Details zur Ermittlungsarbeit zu verraten? Spärliche Literaturangaben, kein Register, sehr einfache Ausstattung. (2)
