Das Repertorium dokumentiert die zwischen 1450 und 1700 in deutscher Sprache gedruckten Werke zu den weit gestreuten Themen der Rhetorik und allgemeinen Kommunikation in ihren diversen historischen Ausprägungen (Redetheorie, Brieflehre, Verhaltenstheorie, Tischzucht, Apophthegmata, Prozesslehre). Zahlreiche dieser Werke werden mit Hilfe von kurzen Inhaltsangaben erschlossen. Der Forschung wird damit ein praktisches Hilfsmittel zur Orientierung und zum inhaltlichen Einstieg in diese bislang noch nicht in all ihren Dimensionen untersuchten Quellen zur frühneuzeitlichen deutschen Rhetorik- und Kommunikationsgeschichte geboten. - Ergänzend zu diesem Band sind ein Quellenverzeichnis (Gratia Bd. 59), das auch lateinische Werke beinhaltet, sowie ein Autorenlexikon (Gratia Bd. 60) erhältlich.
