Bound in stiff green paper wrappers printed with an overall swirling leaf pattern in a lighter green; black and white floral endpapers; preceding title page is a leaf of plain brown cardboard in which a circular opening has been cut, allowing the reader to see the title on the next leaf; surrounding the opening is a cut-out of a floral wreath, hand-painted in purple, pink, yellow, and green; following title leaf is a decorated leaf containing the hand-painted drawing of a bird on a branch of flowers, in pink, blue, yellow, and green; another brown cardboard leaf contains a cutout of an exotic bird painted in blue, yellow, and green; a paper cut-out of the iconic Vigía oil lamp appears on the rear cover, its base painted red, green, yellow, and gilt, and a black feather representing its flame.
