Anna ist Novizin und lebt in einem katholischen Kloster in Polen. Bevor sie ihr Gelübde ablegt, schickt die Oberin Anna zu ihrer letzten lebenden Verwandten. Tante Wanda war früher eine staatshörige Richterin, lebt aber inzwischen nur noch für Alkohol, Zigaretten und Männer. Die ungleichen Frauen begeben sich gemeinsam auf eine Reise in die Vergangenheit.
