Die fortschreitende Globalisierung erzeugt einen permanenten Handlungsdruck. Er muss hierzulande ebenso wie in zahlreichen anderen hochentwickelten Gesellschaften mit einer älter werdenden Bevölkerung bewältigt werden. In Unternehmen erfordert dies ein Mehr an Mitarbeiterorientierung, eine Aufwertung der Personalarbeit und ein leistungsfähiges Betriebliches Gesundheitsmanagement. Das Sozialkapital verdient dabei wegen seiner Effekte auf die Gesundheit und den Unternehmenserfolg eine stärkere Beachtung. Gegenstand unserer vergleichenden Analysen sind nunmehr 14 Organisationen aus den Bereichen Güterproduktion, Dienstleistungen und öffentliche Verwaltung. Das an der Fakultät für Gesundheitswissenschaften entwickelte Bielefelder Unternehmensmodell und das daraus abgeleitete Diagnoseinstrument erweisen sich auch in den 9 zusätzlich untersuchten Organisationen als hilfreich zur Identifizierung sozialer Strukturen und Prozesse, die sich auf beides auswirken: die Gesundheit der Mitarbeiter und den wirtschaftlichen Erfolg. Die Sozialkapitalfaktoren Führung, Kultur und Betriebsklima bilden einen wesentlichen Teil des Gesamtvermögens eines Unternehmens. Sie wirken sich messbar aus, auf die Fehlzeiten, die Qualität der Güter und Dienstleistungen, auf die Verbreitung von Organisationspathologien wie Mobbing und innere Kündigung und auf die psychische Gesundheit. Die unterstellten Zusammenhänge sind für die Personal- und Organisationsentwicklung von grundlegender Bedeutung in KMUs ebenso wie in Großbetrieben. Die Zielgruppe Führungskräfte aus der Wirtschaft und dem öffentlichen Dienst, den Berufsverbänden und der Gesundheitswirtschaft; Betriebliche Personal- und Gesundheitsexperten, Studierende der Sozial- und Gesundheitswissenschaften sowie der Betriebswirtschaft.
