Aus der Einleitung: Eine Ausstellung im Museum für Hamburgische Geschichte, präsentiert 1977/78 aus Anlaß des 300jährigen Bestehens der Hamburger Oper, lenkte die Aufmerksamkeit nachdrücklich auf ein Architekturmodell des Salomonischen Tempels, das im letzten Jahrzehnt des 17. Jahrhunderts von Gerhard Schott, dem Initiator der Operngründung, als Bühnenrequisit für die Oper "Die Verstöhrung Jerusalems" (1692, von Postel/Conradi) in Auftrag gegeben wurde.
