Internationales und interdisziplinäres Symposium anlässlich 25 Jahre Schreibaby-Ambulanz im Kinderzentrum München am 25. und 26. November 2016 in München. Als Mechthild Papousek 1991 die "Münchener Sprechstunde für Schreibabys" am Kinderzentrum München gründete, war dies eine der ersten Beratungsstellen dieser Art in Deutschland. Neben der Erforschung dieses Phänomens, des exzessiven Schreiens von Säuglingen, wurde ein Beratungs- und Behandlungskonzept entwickelt, das gleichermaßen unterschiedliche Störungen im Kontext der frühkindlichen Entwicklung berücksichtigt (exzessives Schreien, Schlaf- und Fütterstörungen), ebenso Belastungen der intuitiven elterlichen Kompetenzen einbezieht und die Beziehungsentwicklung zwischen Eltern und Kind unterstützt. In dem Symposiumsband stellen namhafte Referenten, aufbauend auf Grundlagen der Neurobiologie, Entwicklungspsychologie und der Epidemiologie Beratungs- und Therapiekonzepte für Säuglinge und Kleinkinder und ihrer Eltern vor. Es wird versucht, ein Verständnis für die frühen Entwicklungsbelastungen und Risiken bei Säuglingen zu wecken, die sich langfristig auf die soziale Integration und Entwicklungsprognose eines Kindes auswirken können.
