Umweltforschung und Umweltschutz sind keineswegs nur Gegenstand der Naturwissenschaften, sondern empirische Sozial- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften und haben in diesem Problemfeld auch ihren wichtigen Platz. Die entsprechende empirische Forschung dient vor allem zwei Zwecken: zum einen der Darstellung (Deskription) der Perzeption des Umweltzustandes und deren Bewertung durch die Bevölkerung und ihre Teilgruppen. Dieser Zweig der umweltbezogenen Sozialforschung steht in der Tradition der Sozialberichterstattung. Zum zweiten dienen sozial- und wirtschaftswissenschaftliche Erhebungen zur Verhaltensanalyse, also der Untersuchung der Determinanten des umweltrelevanten Verhaltens sowie der Perzeption von Umwelt und deren Bewertung. -- Im vorliegenden Band wird im ersten Block ein Überblick über umweltorientierte Sozial- und Wirtschaftsforschung gegeben. Der zweite Block enthält Aufsätze, die in der Tradition der Sozialberichterstattung stehen, während im dritten Block Untersuchungen präsentiert werden, die Umweltverhalten mikroanalytisch untersuchen
