Vor allem mit der Vorteilhaftigkeit von Unternehmensintegrationen setzt sich diese Arbeit auseinander. Zunächst aber wird ein ausführlicher Überblick über die existierenden vertragstheoretischen Ansätze der modernen Theorie der Unternehmung gegeben. Dann werden zwei eigene, in neoklassischer Tradition stehende Ansätze zur Analyse vertikaler bzw. horizontaler Integrationen entwickelt. Diese Ansätze liefern zum Teil überraschende Einsichten. Zum Beispiel können Wettbewerbsbeschränkungen gerade durch das Nichterfolgen von vertikalen Integrationen induziert werden. Anschließend werden die Unzulänglichkeiten einer neoklassischen, rein individualistischen Betrachtungsweise aufgezeigt. Mit Hilfe einer Analyse auf der Basis sozialpsychologischer Erkenntnisse werden neue Einblicke gewonnen
