Unterordnungen und 10 Familien werden beschrieben, dazu 29 wichtige Arten ausführlicher: Anatomie und Verhalten inklusive "Steckbrief" mit Größe, Lebensraum und Ernährung. Die Artenbeschreibungen umfassen zwischen 2 und 14 Seiten, sind dabei großzügig und hervorragend bebildert. Der Autor, Zoodirektor, ist ausgewiesener Fachmann auf diesem Gebiet (R. Wandrey: "Wale und Robben der Welt", BA 3/98; R. Wandrey: "Wale und Delfine", BA 4/06, hier waren 63 Arten verzeichnet, wenn auch mit kürzerer Beschreibung), beide Titel erschienen im Kosmos Verlag, sind jedoch nicht mehr lieferbar; überhaupt ist derzeit nur ein Erwachsenensachbuch zum Thema am Markt ("Wale und Delfine", BA 6/09, Autor: M.
