    Content: "Die Aufklärung zerstört Tabus, aber sie ist ihrerseits auch ein Biotop für Tabus." - Vor allem in Hinsicht auf Sexualität läuft um 1800 ein Tabuisierungsprozess dem Aufklärungsprozess entgegen oder zumindest laufen beide parallel. Zur Thematisierung des Ineinandergreifens der Tabuisierung und Aufklärung in der Literatur um 1800 beschäftigt sich die vorliegende Arbeit mit folgenden Werken: Lessings "Emilia Galotti" (1772), Kleists "Erdbeben in Chili" (1807) und "Die Marquise von O ..."(1808) sowie Goethes "Stella" (1776 erste Fassung und 1803 zweite Fassung) und "Die Wahlverwandtschaften" (1809). Genauer gesagt werden hier jeweils folgende Tabus behandelt und verhandelt: der Verlust der weiblichen Unschuld ("Emilia Galotti" und "Die Marquise von O ..."), voreheliche Sexualität und Schwangerschaft ("Das Erdbeben in Chili") sowie freier Liebesaustausch und Ehebruch ("Stella" und "Die Wahlverwandtschaften"). Die vorliegende Arbeit kommt dabei zu folgendem Ergebnis: Lessings "Emilia Galotti" strebt, vor dem Hintergrund des Aufklärungsprojekts, geradezu polemisch nach einer Destruktion des Tabus: Das Tabu wird als ein Hindernis für die Aufklärung und als die inhumane Seite des neuen bürgerlichen Moralsystems inszeniert. Kleist hingegen erfasst das Tabu nicht nur, wie Lessing, in seiner repressiven Funktion, sondern legt mit einer ans Groteske grenzenden Ironie die paradoxe Struktur des Tabus und der ihm zugrunde liegenden Werte in zugespitzter Weise offen - ganz in Sinne einer Dekonstruktion. Goethes Experiment in "Stella" und "Die Wahlverwandtschaften" kann man als einen Versuch der Tabu-Rekonstruktion verstehen, die dem Tabu einen moralischen Wert zuweist, wenngleich nicht ohne bittere Ironie und kritische Vorbehalte.
