Temporale Präpositionen wie 'seit' weisen ein reichhaltiges Interpretationsspektrum auf, indem sie sowohl Argumente vom temporalen Typ als auch solche von nicht-zeitlichen Typen zulassen. Aus dem letzteren Fall ergibt sich ein prominentes Problem in der kompositionellen Semantik: Der Typ des zu kombinierenden Arguments kann die Selektionsanforderung der Präposition nicht unmittelbar erfüllen. Die in dieser Arbeit entwickelte Theorie geht von der Perspektive der Typenlogik aus und bietet flexiblere kompositionelle Methoden für seit-Modifikatoren: Die reguläre Komposition, eventive coercion und Aspektselektion. Des Weiteren erfasst die Untersuchung die Vernetzung der semantischen Unterbestimmtheit mit der pragmatischen Anreicherung mittels der non-monotonen Inferenz, die auf Weltwissen oder kontextueller Information basiert. Damit versteht sich die Arbeit als ein Beitrag zur Interpretation der temporalen Modifikatoren an der Semantik-Pragmatik-Schnittstelle.
