Mein Interesse am Thema "Re-enactment" geht auf den Film "Time Splits in the River" zurück, an dem die drei Künstler I-Chieh Huang, Chia-hung Lee und Xuan-zhen Liao und ich 2016 zusammenarbeiteten. Wir luden unsere jeweiligen Väter ein, in dem Film mitzuwirken und die Rolle von Dissidenten in Taiwans Demokratiebewegung in den 1980er Jahren zu spielen. In Realität waren diese vier Väter ganz normale Menschen, die sich nie an sozialen Bewegungen beteiligt hatten. Da der Film fiktional war, erzählten die Väter während der Dreharbeiten Geschichten und teilten Perspektiven mit, die wir bei den Interviews vor den Dreharbeiten oder in unserer Jugend nie gehört hatten. Dies war das erste Mal, dass ich die Möglichkeit und Unvorhersehbarkeit der Strategie des "Re-enactment" spürte. Die Erfahrung von "Time Splits in the River" ermöglichte es mir, sowohl vertraute als auch ungewohnte Seiten meines Vaters zu sehen. Danach habe ich mich weiter mit Kunstwerken zum Thema "Re-enactment" beschäftigt und war motiviert, das Thema zu erforschen. Ich bin Professorin Marlis Roth und Herrn Sirko Knüpfer sehr dankbar für ihre wertvollen Anregungen und Diskussionen während des Schreibprozesses meiner Arbeit, die mir geholfen haben, über die logischen und konzeptionellen Probleme, auf die ich gestoßen bin, nachzudenken.
