Klappentext: 60 Jahre nach der Uraufführung des DEFA-Films "Nackt unter Wölfen" von Frank Beyer und 65 Jahre nach der Erstveröffentlichung des Romans von Bruno Apitz haben sich Studierende der Universität Erfurt für eine Wanderausstellung auf Spurensuche begeben. Die in den letzten Tagen des Zweiten Weltkriegs im Konzentrationslager Buchenwald angesiedelte Geschichte erzählt die Rettung eines Kindes durch die Häftlinge. Das Buch erschien 1958 im Mitteldeutschen Verlag und wurde schnell zum Weltbestseller, der Film prägte das Bild des antifaschistischen Films in der DDR maßgeblich. Am Roman und dessen Rezeption lassen sich zahlreiche Stränge deutsch-deutscher Erinnerungskultur bis in die Gegenwart festmachen. Dies betrifft nicht nur die Frage der künstlerisch-literarischen Verarbeitung des Stoffes, sondern auch die Frage der unterschiedlichen Institutionalisierung, Narrativierung und Instrumentalisierung der Erinnerungskultur nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg - in Ost und West.
