1.1 Aufgaben der Dateniibertragung und der Daten fernverarbeitung Datenubertragung (data transmission), im Folgenden mit DU abgekilrzt, bedeutet die Ubertra gung von Daten zwischen unabhangig voneinander betriebenen informationsverarbeitenden Systemen. Merkmale der DU sind: • Ubertragung der Signale mit annahemd Lichtgeschwindigkeit • Filr die Darstellung der Daten stehen nur elektrische bzw. elektromagnetische und optische Signale zur VerfUgung. • Die Datenubertragung ist grundsatzlich zwischen Systemen verschiedener Hersteller und Betreiber moglich. • Zur Datenubertragung werden auch Medien genutzt, die nicht ausschlie13lich der Dat- ubertragung dienen. • Die Daten liegen in digitaler Form vor. • Die Daten werden seriell ubertragen. Datenubertragung findet auch innerhalb der informationsverarbeitenden Systeme start, z.B. beim Datenaustausch zwischen Prozessor und Speicher in einem EDV-System. Dieses Thema wird im Folgenden nicht behandelt. Der Austausch von Daten zwischen Zentraleinheit und so dass dieses Thema in einigen Peripheriegeraten erfolgt aber oft nach den Regeln der DU, Abschnitten des Buchs behandelt wird. Datenfemverarbeitung (DFV, teleprocessing), oft auch als verteilte Verarbeitung (distributed processing) bezeichnet, bedeutet, dass die Daten nicht an dem Ort verarbeitet werden, an dem sie entstehen oder benotigt werden. Heute verteilt sich auch die Verarbeitung der Daten auf mehrere Systeme, z.B. Bearbeitung der Geschaftsvorglinge auf einem Rechner (application server), Erlangung der Information und Abspeicherung der Ergebnisse von einem anderen Rechner, dem Datenbank-Server (data base server). Die DU ist eine Voraussetzung fUr die Datenfemverarbeitung
