Content: TON-U Tony Joe Whites "The Beginning" wurde ursprünglich 2001 auf CD veröffentlicht. Ohne Schnickschnack nahm Tony Joe hier sich selbst auf und spielt seinen klassischen Swamp-Blues-Sound. Ein scheinbar simpel gestrickter Blues, wie man ihn in den Straßen Louisianas einst oft von den Veranden der Häuser hören konnte: trotz aller Zurückgenommenheit und sparsamen Instrumentierung kraftvoll und ausdrucksstark. New West Records brachte eine limitierte Auflage einer farbigen Vinyl-Pressung heraus, für welche die Songs speziell neu gemastert und neu sequenziert wurden. Aufgrund der großen Nachfrage bringt New West diesen Titel nun auch auf CD heraus.

Studioplatte des US-amerikanischen Gitarristen und Sängers, der Nachfolger von »Rain Crow« (2016). Zwölf Stücke hat White dafür in seinem Studio in Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee aufgenommen. Die Produktion übernahm sein Sohn und Manager Jody White. Es handelt sich dabei um eine Mischung aus Coverversionen einiger Bluesklassiker, zum Beispiel von Größen wie Lightnin’ Hopkins, Muddy Waters und John Lee Hooker, und eigenen bislang unveröffentlichten Songs. Einen ersten Vorgeschmack auf »Bad Mouthin’« gab Tony Joe White bereits im Juni mit dem Titeltrack. Ein spannendes neues Album, eine wunderschöne Hommage an den Blues und seine Legenden. Mit »Bad Mouthin’« bringt Tony Joe White 2018 beides unter einen Hut.
