Der deutsche Strommarkt war in der Vergangenheit immer wieder dem Vorwurf der Manipulation ausgesetzt. Diese Arbeit will zeigen, inwieweit Insiderhandel und Marktmanipulation insbesondere an der Strombörse möglich sind und mit welchen Mitteln man diese verhindern kann. Dabei wird aber auch der außerbörsliche Markt einbezogen, da die Warenderivatmärkte gegenüber den eigentlichen Wertpapiergeschäften verschiedene Besonderheiten aufweisen. Der Autor zeigt, dass es gerade bei Stromderivaten möglich ist, auf dem außerbörslichen Markt Einfluss auf die Strombörse zu nehmen und umgekehrt. Ebenso besteht eine noch engere Verknüpfung zwischen den Derivaten und den physischen Stromgeschäften, als dies bei Wertpapieren der Fall ist. Dadurch greifen die im Wertpapierhandelsgesetz (WpHG) geregelten Instrumente zur Steigerung der Marktintegrität nicht an allen Warenmärkten.
