Wenn Lebensgeschichten von Schriftstellern meist Leidensgeschichten sind, dann gilt das für Rudolf Ditzen alias Hans Fallada in ganz besonderer Weise: Eine konfliktreiche Jugend und eine schon früh gescheiterte bürgerliche Existenz, mehrere Haftstrafen und vielfache Psychiatrie-Aufenthalte sowie ein lebenslanger - vergeblicher - Kampf gegen Alkoholismus, Medikamenten- und Drogenabhängigkeit prägten seinem Leben den Stempel auf. Mit knapp 40 Jahren kam dann der überraschende literarische Durchbruch mit "Kleiner Mann - was nun?", dem schwierige Jahre im NS-Deutschland folgen. Und schon mit 53 Jahren starb Fallada an Herzversagen. Die Autorin dieser sorfältig recherchierten und faktenreichen Biografie stellt das schwierige, von so vielfachem Unglück überschattete Leben Falladas wohltuend nüchtern, detailgenau und zugleich sehr einfühlsam dar, auch wenn das plastische Personenporträt und ein flüssiger Erzählstil nicht ihre Stärke sind. Derzeit maßgebliche Biografie vor J. Manthey (BA 9/79; heute zum Teil veraltet), W. Liersch (BA 8/93) und "Hans Fallada" (BA 5/97). (2) (Ronald Schneider)
