Series Statement: Cambridge elements. Elements of improving quality and safety in healthcare,
Content: This Element introduces and critically reflects on the contribution of implementation science to healthcare improvement efforts. Grounded in several disciplines, implementation science is the study of strategies to promote the uptake of evidence-based interventions into healthcare practice and policy. The field's focus is threefold. First, it encompasses theory and empirical research focused on exploring, identifying, and understanding the systems, behaviours, and practices that influence successful implementation. Second, it examines the evaluation of strategies to address barriers or enablers to implementation in a given context. Last, it increasingly seeks to understand the process of implementation itself: what actually gets implemented, and when, why, and how? Despite the growing body of evidence, challenges remain. Many important messages remain buried in the literature, and their impact on implementation efforts in routine practice may be limited. The challenge is not just to get evidence into practice, but also to get implementation science into practice. This title is also available as Open Access on Cambridge Core.

    ISBN: 9783031631863
    Series Statement: Hurricane Risk, 3
Content: Tropical cyclones (including hurricanes) are becoming more destructive. Rising seas are resulting in greater storm surge inundation. More moisture-laden, warmer air is leading to heavier rains. There is also mounting evidence for more powerful winds and a greater incidence of the strongest storms. Do we fully understand these changes, and what will these changes mean for society? Arising from the 2024 Symposium on Hurricane Risk in a Changing Climate, this book contains new research on hurricane behavior, our vulnerability, and how we communicate the risk. This book is essential reading to understand the future of tropical cyclone risk and what it means for society.
Note: Chapter 1. Recent Advances in the Emerging Field of Paleotempestology -- Chapter 2. Archival Evidence of Secular Changes in Georgia Hurricanes: 1750-2012 -- Chapter 3. Near-time Sea Surface Temperature and Tropical Cyclone Intensity in the Eastern North Pacific basin -- Chapter 4. Modern Tropical Cyclone Wind Observation and Analysis -- Chapter 5. Inland Tropical Cyclones and the "Brown Ocean" Concept -- Chapter 6. Typhoon/Hurricane Disaster Prediction and Prevention for Coastal, Offshore and Nuclear Power Plant Infrastructure -- Chapter 7. Edition: 1st ed. 2019.
    ISBN: 1-4939-9432-8
Series Statement: Methods in Molecular Biology, 1984
Content: This book comprises a collection of chapters describing topics from traditional radiation cytogenetic analysis methods to the modern fluorescence based-analysis and high throughput automatic analysis methods. Cytogenetic analysis is important not only in order to understand radiation-induced DNA damage in cells, but it is also a standard biological method to estimate human radiation exposure in the radiation accidents. Therefore, we prepared a series of chapters not only covering biological aspects but also exploring radiation physics and radiation protection. Written for the highly successful Methods in Molecular Biology series, chapters include introductions to their respective topics, lists of the necessary materials and equipment, step-by-step, readily reproducible laboratory protocols, and tips on troubleshooting and avoiding known pitfalls. Authoritative and practical, Radiation Cytogenetics: Methods and Protocols serves both novices working on their first experiments as well as experienced researchers searching for tried-and-true techniques to adapt for their own laboratory.
