Neben Perlentieren und anderen kleinen Schmuckelementen aus Draht und Perlen greifen aktuelle modische Trends in Kleidung, Accessoires und Raumschmuck auch wieder andere, lange vernachlässigte Techniken der Perlenhandarbeit auf. Die Autorin gibt zunächst einen Einblick in die Geschichte der Perlen und informiert dann über das heutige Sortiment sowie die dazu passenden Garne, Werkzeuge und Zubehör. Darauf folgen Tipps zu Musterentwurf (Rastervorlagen im Anhang), Montage und Pflege. Der Projektteil ist technisch gegliedert und enthält genaue Anleitungen für Hals-, Arm- und Ohrenschmuck, Beutel und Täschchen, beperlte Knöpfe und Quasten und etwas Raumdeko, hauptsächlich gearbeitet in Fädeltechniken, gestickt, gewebt und gestrickt. Die neuere Technik des Perlenhäkelns ist nur an einem Beispiel demonstriert, weshalb sich hier ergänzend L. Gygax' "Gehäkelte Glasperlenketten" (BA 8/98) anbietet. Die Kunstgalerie zeigt attraktive Fotos hervorragender Perlarbeiten von Kursteilnehmern und Künstlern.
