"Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) ist der bekannteste Architekt Amerikas, Selbstdarsteller, bewunderter Lehrer, gescheiterter Geschäftsmann. Er schuf mit dem Guggenheim-Museum und Fallingwater, dem Haus über dem Wasserfall, Ikonen der Architektur. Aber Wright war nicht nur ein Architekturgenie. Sein Leben hatte alle Zutaten für ein pralles Spielfilmdrehbuch: Morde, Feuer, Scheidungen, Insolvenzen, soziale Ächtung. Nach allen Skandalen und Katastrophen stand er wieder auf wie ein Phoenix aus der Asche. Als Wright mit knapp 92 Jahren starb, war er weltbekannt, hatte in 70 Jahren über tausend Gebäude entworfen, von denen über 500 verwirklicht wurden. Acht dieser Gebäude wurden 2019 zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe geadelt.
