Mosab Hassan Yousef ist der Sohn eines der Gründer der Hamas, der militanten religiösen Widerstandsbewegung gegen die israelische Besatzung Palästinas. Er beteiligte sich an der 1. Intifada, gehörte zum Kern der Hamas, wurde verhaftet, verschwand in den berüchtigten Gefängnissen des israelischen Geheimdienstes und erklärte sich schließlich bereit, als Spion zu arbeiten. Je intimer er die Methoden der Hamas kennenlernt und gleichzeitig seine Kontakte zu Israelis ausweitet, desto größer werden seine Zweifel.
